People come to therapy for many reasons - dissatisfaction with their life and relationships, depression, anxiety, stress, to name a few. Or they may just not like themselves or feel they are unworthy of good things. Sometimes an unexpected life event may reveal old unresolved issues and emotions that have been tucked away, or the event itself may create difficult emotions and circumstances that are overwhelming. When too many of these more difficult feelings and emotions get buried, a person may feel unsettled and then life becomes more difficult. They may find themselves withdrawing from their friends, or fighting more in their relationships or engaging in behaviours that they know are not good for them.
Whatever the source of the stress and discomfort, therapy provides an opportunity to explore and to listen more fully to your “self”. Through talking about difficult situations, looking at dreams, and noticing sensations in your body, you can begin to see what is true and authentic for you. Together, we look at your strengths and how even behaviours that you are not happy with, may serve you in a positive way. Then, as new options emerge, you can begin to gently let go of what no longer works for you, moving towards living with more self-acceptance and aliveness.
I bring to the therapy a curiosity and a deep desire to know your experience and to hear what you are thinking and feeling. I believe that healing begins when a person feels understood and their experiences validated. With over 30 years of experience working with people, I draw from my training in Client Centred Psychotherapy, Bioenergetics, Energy Healing, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. Through my own personal therapy and spiritual journey, I have learned to listen to an intuition that can guide me to profound and meaningful places with people.
